Our History
The Fisher family has been in the gardening business for over 60 years. Raymond and Marie Fisher built their first greenhouse in southern Franklin County in 1947. At the time, the Fisher's were strictly vegetable farmers growing fresh produce to take to market and sell to grocery stores. In order to get a head start on the competition, they built the greenhouse to get the vegetable seedlings started earlier than anyone else. They also used the greenhouse to grow long stem snapdragons to sell to florists during the lean winter months. As word spread through the tight knit community, neighbors would stop by and ask to buy some early seedlings so they could have the first ripe tomato or pepper. And so it began.

Raymond Fisher Jr. (Raymond and Marie's oldest son) and his wife Grace took over the business inthe early 1960's and quickly decided there was more interest in selling vegetable plants than the completed product. The first retail greenhouse (selling to the public) was opened in 1980. By then there were 10 more production greenhouses producing young annual and vegetable plants.
In 1989 the Fisher family purchased the property where Fisher's Gardens now stands on State Route 256 in Reynoldsburg as a second retail location. With six children (four of them in the business) it was time to expand. Currently Bee Fisher Kocher (Raymond and Grace's youngest child) and

her husband Brian, own and operate this location. Brian's degree in Landscape Architecture and Bee's family background in horticulture made this the perfect match for them. Their children, Sam and Alex, are also involved (sometimes reluctantly, as was Bee at their age) during the busy spring season.
It's a demanding life (and I say life because it seems like we spend most of our time here), but it's rewarding to know that the Fisher family has helped beautify the world one garden at a time.
